In order to study the acid mucosubstance in the endometrium of pregnant woman, and patient with endometrial¢¥hypertrophy and erosion of cervex uteri were observed histochemically.
The mucosubstances were stained with alcian blue (pH 2.5 and 1. 0), colloidal iron, toluidine blue, alcian blue (pH 2.5)-PAS and aldehyde fuchsia-alcian blue (pH 2.5). The results obtained were as follows
1) The mucosubstances in the endometrium of patient suffering endometrial hypertrophy and erosion of cervix uteri contained acid mucosubstances consisted of sulfated mucin and nonsulfated mucin, and in general, the amount of acid mucosubstance was more in the uterine gland. and it¢¥s secretion than in the surface epithelium and stroma.
2) In the endometrium of pregnant woman, the acid muosubstance in the uterine gland, and it¢¥s secretion became decreased in pregnancy, and those in the stroma became decreased in early pregnancy but increased slightly after the pregnancy of 10th week.
3) The acid mucosubstance in the endometrium of pregnant woman consisted of more nonsulfated mucin than sulfated mucin.
